Kenya, Italy and the UNDP Launch a New AI Hub for Sustainable Projects
Kanesa D — May 28, 2025Kenya, Italy, and the United Nations Development Programme are partnering to launch a new artificial intelligence hub for sustainable projects. The deal will see Kenya fund Ksh310 billion in order to promote the country as a hub for AI-powered tools and solutions, with an expected 30,000 jobs to be created as a result. Launching on June 20, in Rome, Italy, the project will be backed by President William Ruto and ambassador Philip Tigo.
“Kenya has all the numbers to become a regional computing hub—with its expanding data center network, advanced international connectivity, and flourishing startup ecosystem. We are happy to have Kenya play a central role in the governance of the Hub, alongside the African Development Bank, European Commission, and Italian Government,” Bergamotto said.
