Carbon Removal Organizations

The organization Carbon Removal Kenya was established to promote the development of a carbon dioxide removal industry within the country. It advocates for Kenya as a prime location for such activities, citing its largely renewable energy grid, plentiful organic waste materials, and favorable climatic and soil conditions for permanent carbon sequestration methods, including "Biochar, DAC with Mineralisation, Enhanced Rock Weathering, and others." Kenya's renewable energy infrastructure means that carbon removal projects, such as those using biomass or direct air capture, would have a minimal carbon footprint from their own energy consumption, thereby maximizing the net amount of CO₂ actually removed and enhancing the credit's value. All in all, Carbon Removal Kenya focuses on supporting carbon removal techniques that ensure long-term storage of carbon and the generation of high-quality carbon credits. The organization also notes that due to its focus and activities in Kenya, it is able to deliver the potential for substantial social and economic co-benefits, such as job creation and agricultural improvements, for local communities.
