Charm Industrial Turns Plant Matter into Bio-Oil
Kalin Ned — September 25, 2025References: manufacturo
Charm Industrial is deploying a novel carbon sequestration technique that processes leftover plant matter from agriculture and forestry into a stable bio-oil for deep geological storage and a beneficial biochar soil amendment.
A significant operational challenge in this pioneering work is the need for meticulous data collection to verify the net amount of carbon being permanently removed from the atmosphere. To address this, the company has integrated the Manufacturo platform, which functions as a centralized digital system for managing its complex hybrid manufacturing processes. This software replaces previously manual, paper-based methods with a unified digital system that captures real-time information from both machinery and operator inputs. Manufacturo's adaptability allows Charm’s engineering team to continuously refine the unique carbon sequestration technique to ensure that every step — from processing biomass to tracking the final injection of bio-oil — is accurately documented.
