The Aftrak Micro Electric Tractor is a solar-powered, off-grid mechanisation system developed to support smallholder farming in sub-Saharan Africa; it integrates a modular solar microgrid with a purpose-built micro electric tractor and implements a Deep Bed Farming technique designed to improve soil structure and water retention. Field trials conducted in Malawi and other pilot sites indicate the system can operate in rugged environments without access to fuel or reliable roads, and the tractor supports multiple attachments for digging, planting, watering, and harvesting to enable a wider range of farm tasks with a single device.

Design revisions to the latest version emphasize user ergonomics, reduced maintenance, and improved maneuverability through a single-axle configuration and off-board tool attachments, addressing feedback from earlier prototypes that required rearward operation and were harder to handle on uneven terrain. Aftrak reports that trials have produced yield increases of two- to threefold through the combined use of mechanisation, solar power, and the Deep Bed Farming method, and the organisation is preparing for scaled production and wider market availability with plans to produce units for distribution across Africa and other regions.
