CO₂ Capture Projects

Clean tech startup CarbonQuest and energy developer Daroga Power have launched the first-ever 'carbon capture-as-a-service' offering, aiming to make CO₂ capture feasible for a wider range of commercial sites. Announced June 26, their pilot project will install CarbonQuest’s modular carbon capture system at a beverage processing plant in Washington state with no upfront cost to the client. Instead, Daroga (through its affiliate C2Zero) finances, owns, and operates the equipment, delivering captured CO₂ as a service under a multi-year contract. The captured CO₂ is then liquefied and either reused on-site (e.g. for beverage carbonation) or sold for other industrial uses, creating a revenue stream that helps offset the service cost.

CarbonQuest’s tech is designed for small-to-medium emitters like commercial buildings or factories, removing CO₂ from flue gas before it’s released. This as-a-service model guarantees the plant a minimum volume of CO₂ emissions eliminated each year, helping it meet sustainability targets without capital expenditure. The companies report that this first project will remove on the order of thousands of tons of CO₂ annually, and note they have a robust pipeline of similar projects under development.
