Hitachi Energy Launched Its EcoSpace Carbon-Tracking Platform
Adam Harrie — April 30, 2026Hitachi Energy has launched 'EcoSpace,' a lifecycle carbon-tracking platform for power grid infrastructure that quantifies environmental impact from raw materials through long-term operations. Part of the HMAX Energy portfolio, the platform carries DNV endorsement and helped identify a 20% lifetime carbon reduction at a Norwegian 420kV substation built with transmission operator Statnett.
The tool lets utilities, developers, and investors compare design scenarios and spot potential emission opportunities across multiple scopes in real time. It is crafted to comply with the transportation standards now incorporated into public tenders and infrastructure funding.
As sustainability reporting becomes a deciding factor in energy project funding, Hitachi Energy shows that giving project teams a clear view of their carbon footprint at every design stage can ensure accountability and reporting.
