Hitachi Energy will Incorporate a Pakal Technologies Switch

References: prnewswire

Hitachi Energy plans to add Pakal Technologies’ IGTO(t) silicon power switch to its high-voltage power modules, which are used in rail systems, renewable energy projects, energy storage, and data centers. These systems are essential to modern life, but they can waste significant energy during power conversion.

The new switch is designed to cut energy losses by about 30 percent compared with commonly used devices. Lower energy loss means less electricity needs to be generated, which can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs. By improving efficiency inside critical infrastructure, the collaboration supports a cleaner, more reliable grid and helps accelerate the transition to low-carbon electrification worldwide.

Greater efficiency also reduces heat production, extending equipment life and lowering material waste over time, further strengthening the environmental benefits of large-scale electrification. Across industries, this shift supports sustainable economic growth. Worldwide and long-term.
