Canadian Solar Introduces Low Carbon Modules for Solar Energy

Canadian Solar Inc. has unveiled its next-generation Low Carbon (LC) solar modules, demonstrating a significant step in sustainable solar technology.

Built with advanced wafer designs and heterojunction (HJT) cell technology, these new modules are tailored for utility-scale and commercial projects. They deliver one of the industry’s lowest carbon footprints, at just 285 kg CO₂eq per kW, setting a new benchmark across the industry.

The LC modules achieve this through innovative manufacturing, which involves using more of each silicon ingot, creating thinner wafers, simplifying cell production from as many as 13 steps down to four, and operating at far lower temperatures. Together, these innovations cut emissions and energy use by nearly 10% compared to traditional methods, making solar power cleaner.
