Real-Time Grid Intelligence

Corinex is improving low-voltage grid management with its Grid Intelligence Node (GIN), a monitoring system that provides utilities with near-real-time measurements of network conditions. Installed in substations, street cabinets and lateral branches, GIN combines broadband powerline communications with voltage, current and power-quality monitoring. The technology detects overloads, voltage changes and phase imbalances while transmitting data through existing power lines. Its measurements can also support digital twins that more accurately represent physical grid conditions.

For utilities, greater visibility can help identify capacity constraints and determine whether upgrades or flexible management strategies are necessary. Operators can assess available capacity for electric vehicles, heat pumps and solar installations while verifying the effectiveness of grid interventions. Because GIN can retrofit existing infrastructure without requiring a separate communications network, it could also reduce deployment complexity and support more cost-effective grid modernization.
