Creative Tech Textile has introduced 'Seawool®,' an environmentally conscious composite material that blends finely processed oyster shells with recycled polyester.

Developed in collaboration with Taiwan’s oyster farming industry, the material repurposes large quantities of discarded shells, reducing waste while lowering dependence on virgin synthetic fibers. Seawool® has been submitted for multiple international patents and is positioned as a high-performance textile solution for brands seeking lower-impact material alternatives.

With support from the Plastics Industry Development Center (PIDC), Creative Tech Textile has converted research outcomes into scalable green textiles, contributing to Taiwan’s growing leadership in sustainable material innovation. The initiative "addresses a significant environmental issue: Taiwan’s oyster sector produces an estimated 120,000 to 190,000 tons of waste shells annually." By transforming this by-product into valuable textile inputs, Seawool® advances circularity, reduces landfill pressure, and demonstrates how marine waste can be integrated into eco-efficient production systems.
