Supply Chain Transparency Initiatives

Soorty and Haelixa Utilize DNA-Based Traceability for Fibers
Kalin Ned — August 1, 2025Soorty's expanded collaboration with Haelixa introduces a groundbreaking approach to supply chain transparency in the denim industry by implementing DNA-based traceability for recycled cotton fibers. This innovative system utilizes Haelixa's patented molecular markers that remain detectable throughout the entire production process — from post-consumer textile waste collection through mechanical recycling, spinning, dyeing, and final garment manufacturing.
The DNA-based traceability technology provides forensic-level verification of material origins, a move that addresses growing concerns about greenwashing and enables brands to substantiate circularity claims with scientific evidence.
The partnership enhances Soorty's SecondLife® recycled cotton initiative by offering brands the option to include scannable QR codes on finished garments. These will connect consumers directly to verified data about the product's journey through the supply chain. This development aligns with tightening global regulations like the EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and responds to increasing consumer demand for authentic sustainability information in fashion purchases.
