In celebration of Earth Month, the City of Vernon has introduced its Trees for Tomorrow initiative, offering residents $75 vouchers to help green their neighborhoods. The vouchers, redeemable at three local garden centers—Nicholas Alexander Home and Garden, Swan Lake Market and Garden, and The Flower Spot—aim to encourage tree planting and boost community sustainability efforts.

The program, launched on April 22, is more than just a seasonal campaign—it's a strategic investment in Vernon’s long-term sustainability goals. By incentivizing tree planting, the city hopes to improve air quality, provide habitat for wildlife, increase shade in residential neighborhoods, and bolster climate resilience.

“This program is a simple but impactful way for our community to take part in local climate action and enhance our urban tree canopy,” Kevin McCarty, Vernon’s climate action specialist, said.
