The Edgewell Schick and Skintimate Free Recycling Program launched in collaboration with TerraCycle, making it possible for consumers across the continental US to collect and recycle all Schick and Skintimate disposable razors and their plastic packaging via TerraCycle.

Razors are notoriously difficult to recycle because they combine multiple tightly bonded materials—like metal blades, plastic handles, and rubber grips—that can be a challenge to separate safely and efficiently, and this initative specifically targets tough-to-recycle personal care items. Ultimately keeping disposable razors and their packaging out of landfills and incinerators, this free recycling program makes proper disposal easier. To participate, users can sign up and download a free shipping label to pair with a secure, puncture-proof box.

According to TerraCycle: "Plastics are processed into pellets used to make products such as park benches, picnic tables, and decking, and the metals are smelted into sheeting, ingots, or bar stock that serve as base materials for stamped applications like nuts, bolts, washers, and rings."
