Lab-Grown Fruits
Forever Harvest Boosts Food Security Without Growing Whole Trees or Plants
Laura McQuarrie — May 16, 2026Forever Harvest is on a mission to support the global food system of the future with fruit and nut ingredients grown in a lab, instead of cultivating an entire plant or tree. Created in controlled environments with food-safe inputs and without genetic modification, these fruit and nut cells ultimately support a reliable, on-demand ingredient supply.
The cellular horticulture startup recently raised $1.2 million to accelerate the development of cultivated fruit and nut ingredients for the global food and beverage industry. “Our approach requires minimal land and water, removes seasonality, and eliminates the need for agricultural inputs such as pesticides or fertilisers,” said co-founder of Forever Harvest Dr. Jan Grant. “It also gives us much greater precision, allowing us to produce specific fruit or nut cells with desired functional properties, including characteristics that may only exist in certain parts of the crop, and deliver them consistently for customers.”
