Enhanced Food-Monitoring Tools

AgroFresh Solutions, a company specializing in post-harvest produce preservation, is enhancing its digital platform — FreshCloud — by forming alliances with two technology firms, Aerobotics and Neolithics.

The integration of Aerobotics' TrueFruit® technology is designed to provide agricultural producers with analytical insights by utilizing smartphone-captured images and artificial intelligence to evaluate fruit attributes such as dimensions, coloration, and surface imperfections directly in the orchard. This capability aims to assist with improving harvest planning and increasing the volume of marketable yield. AgroFresh Solutions' collaboration with Neolithics, on the other hand, introduces a non-invasive inspection system for packing facilities that employs optical sensors and AI to scan individual pieces of fruit at high speed for both external and internal quality metrics.

These partnerships are positioned as extensions of the existing FreshCloud ecosystem, which aims to consolidate data from various points in the supply chain. The overarching goal of this integrated digital approach is to furnish growers, packers, and retailers with more comprehensive information to inform decision-making, with the intended outcomes of minimizing food waste, enhancing the consistency of product quality, and improving economic returns.
