As part of its Earth Month initiatives, IKEA Canada is promoting everyday sustainability through the 'Fridge Refresh Contest' (April 14–21), which encourages Canadians to address household food waste by improving refrigerator organization. Food waste is often unintentional, stemming from limited visibility and inefficient storage practices rather than deliberate disposal. According to the IKEA Cooking & Eating Report, one in four Canadians have consumed expired food to avoid waste, underscoring the need for practical solutions.

The campaign highlights that reducing waste can be achieved through simple, accessible changes such as better food storage systems and improved organization. By fostering awareness and small behavioral shifts, households can make meaningful progress toward sustainability.

The initiative is supported by a 20% discount on IKEA 365+ food storage products (April 16–19), offering affordable tools designed to help consumers minimize waste and adopt more sustainable daily habits.
