HomeCycle CT is a student‑founded initiative that promotes deconstruction as an alternative to conventional demolition, with the objective of salvaging usable building materials for reuse and donation. The organization was established in 2023 by Oliver Vynerib while he was a secondary school student, and it organizes teams to dismantle structures carefully so that timber, fixtures, and other components can be recovered and redirected to community partners.

The project’s sustainable construction practices emphasize material recovery, inventorying salvaged items, and matching donations to nonprofit needs to reduce landfill waste and lower the cost of building materials for community projects. HomeCycle CT has been recognized locally for advancing green building practices and has documented case examples of deconstruction workflows, community engagement, and potential scalability for other municipalities seeking to integrate reuse into construction and demolition cycles.
