Certified Recycled Fiber Grades

Sustana Announces the ISEGA Certification for Its Recycled Fibers

Sustana has achieved a key milestone for its recycled fiber business, with its EnviroLife and EnviroNatural fiber grades earning ISEGA certification for food contact safety. The certification confirms that these post-consumer recycled fibers meet strict global standards for use in food packaging, giving brands and converters confidence that sustainability does not come at the expense of safety or performance.

After extensive testing, ISEGA verified that the fibers comply with major U.S. and European food safety regulations, including FDA and EU requirements, as well as standards for chemical and heavy-metal migration. As a result, Sustana’s recycled fibers can be safely used in paper and packaging that directly touches dry, moist, and fatty foods, supporting companies looking to increase recycled content while meeting regulatory and customer expectations.

“Special collaborations with Poliplastic SRL and high-end eyewear manufacturers are tangible examples of how many in the global eyewear industry share Evonik’s vision of a viable circular plastics economy,” says Jennifer Hasselberg, who leads global marketing of Trogamid R, part of Evonik’s High Performance Polymers business line.
