The Klimakover Delivers Low-Energy Public Cooling for Cities

The KlimaKover delivers low-energy public cooling for cities through a modular pavilion that rethinks outdoor comfort under rising global temperatures. The structure uses transparent radiant panels and chilled-water microtubes to cool people directly, while fabric shading and natural ventilation maintain an open-air ambience. The pavilion can operate entirely on solar power, requires no external water, and draws ten times less energy than conventional air-conditioning.

The main modular timber frame is built from upcycled wood and solar components, designed for easy disassembly and scalable deployment in varied urban sites from schoolyards to bus stops. The first public prototype debuted on Governors Island in New York, inviting visitors to experience heat relief built around sustainability and human-centred design.
