Recyclable Building Brick Packaging
LEGO Champions Sustainability with New Recyclable Paper Bags
Kanesa D — November 27, 2025The LEGO Group has reached a significant milestone in its ongoing mission to eliminate single-use plastics from its product packaging. Over half of the company’s packing lines that sort and seal LEGO bricks now use paper-based bags, bringing the iconic toy maker closer to its goal of fully sustainable packaging across its global production network.
First introduced in 2022, the paper bags replace the thin plastic bags traditionally used to separate bricks within each set. Currently, 56 percent of packing lines have adopted this eco-friendly alternative, and 93 percent of all LEGO packaging by weight now relies on paper, cardboard, or other fiber-based materials. The shift reflects LEGO’s dual focus on environmental sustainability and consumer values, particularly listening to the preferences of its youngest fans, who increasingly prioritize eco-conscious practices.
By rethinking the materials in every LEGO box, the company not only reduces plastic waste but also sets a new standard for sustainable play.
