Artificial Cricket Surfaces
Notts Sport Has Introduced CocoTurf Cricket for Plastic-Free Cricket
Kanesa D — November 26, 2025Notts Sport has introduced CocoTurf Cricket, the world’s first fully natural, plastic-free artificial cricket surface. Built entirely from coconut fibres, jute backing, and natural latex, the re-engineered system delivers the performance expected from a professional wicket while eliminating plastics, microplastics, and PFAS.
The first CocoTurf Cricket installation is already in use at Lord’s Cricket Ground, demonstrating how top-tier facilities are beginning to adopt safer, eco-conscious alternatives. Performance testing, including Ball Pitch Impact Assessment, shows the surface offers reliable bounce, authentic pace, and durability comparable to traditional non-turf wickets. An ECB application is underway, paving the way for broader adoption across clubs, schools, county boards, and national cricket programmes.
“We engineered CocoTurf Cricket with players in mind, but with absolute commitment to sustainability. This surface shows that you no longer have to choose between performance and environmental responsibility — you can have both," said Adam Walker, Technical Manager at Notts Sport.
