Vinyl Window Recycling Initiatives

The Vinyl Institute of Canada Introduces Project Win-Finity

The Vinyl Institute of Canada (VIC) has announced Project Win-Finity, an initiative aimed at giving discarded vinyl windows a second life. Every year, large amounts of old PVC windows end up in landfills, but this project hopes to change that by testing new ways to recycle and reuse the valuable materials inside them.

VIC is partnering with Formosa Plastics Corp. USA, the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), and Vision Extrusions Group to help orchestrate this project. As a result, the duo will run a pilot program in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to explore how post-consumer vinyl windows can be collected, broken down, and transformed into new products instead of being wasted.

The pilot is scheduled to officially launch on September 19, 2025, in recognition of World Clean Up Day. By creating a new recycling system for PVC windows, Project Win-Finity could set the stage for larger-scale solutions that help reduce landfill waste across the GTA.
