Recycling Innovation Partnerships

Uflex Partnered with IIP Delhi in India to Advance Recycling

UFlex and the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) Delhi formalized a partnership on January 9, 2025, aimed at advancing recycling awareness, circular-economy principles, and sustainable innovations within the packaging sector. As part of this collaboration, UFlex established an Ideation Zone on the IIP campus—an interactive learning environment where students, professionals, and the public can engage with best practices in resource recovery and waste reduction. The Ideation Zone was inaugurated by Jeevaraj Pillai, Director of Sustainability and President of Flexible Packaging and New Product Development at UFlex, alongside Dr. Tanweer Alam, Additional Director and Regional Officer of IIP Delhi, marking the launch of a series of industry-academia initiatives designed to foster hands-on education in sustainable packaging technologies.

Constructed entirely from recycled materials—including multi-layer plastics and aseptic packaging waste—the Ideation Zone exemplifies circular-economy infrastructure in action. Under the partnership, UFlex will convene workshops and seminars led by industry leaders and sustainability experts to educate participants on advanced recycling processes, the integration of research and development into academic curricula, and the environmental impacts of packaging. These sessions are intended to prepare future packaging professionals to lead in sustainable product design and innovation, building on UFlex’s existing capability to recycle nearly 30,000 metric tons of plastic waste annually across its operations in India, Poland, and Mexico.
