Flexible Waste-Diverting Seals
Provident Uses Recycled Rubber to Craft its New End Seal
Kanesa D — May 12, 2026Provident has introduced an innovative end seal solution for flexographic printing applications that integrates 30 percent recycled rubber content. The material is derived from reclaimed production scrap and recycled tires.
Engineered with a felt-top configuration, the seal is designed for compatibility across leading press manufacturers, including Windmöller & Hölscher, Uteco, PCMC, and SOMA. The product supports a broad range of ink systems, including water-based, UV, LED-UV, and solvent-based formulations, and is supplied pre-lubricated with a food-grade lubricant compliant with food packaging requirements.
The new seal features improved ink containment and cleaner sealing performance. Additional operational advantages include minimized leakage and material waste, longer doctor blade service life, sharper seal edges for greater application accuracy, and reduced press impressions during production runs.
"By transforming discarded materials into a product that offers superior ink containment and fewer press impressions, we're not just launching a new product; we're inviting our customers to experience the future of our sustainable initiatives, without sacrificing high-performance printing," said Tim Allen, director of sales at Provident.
