Fashion brand Miik commits to reducing waste and increasing access to ethically made garments with its Seconds Sale, a biannual online event that offers customers up to 70% off fully wearable styles with minor imperfections. "We don't believe in quietly discarding products just because they fall slightly short of our strict quality control standards," says Sue Cadman, CEO and President of Miik Inc. "Very few brands are willing to take the extra steps to rehome these pieces, but for us, it's part of being a responsible business."

Discounts are offered as part of a tiered system, like 30% off subtle fabric irregularities that can't be steamed, ironed or washed out, and 60 to 70% off flawed styles with small holes, twisted yarn or notable stains that don't impact the integrity of the garment. "Seconds" that aren't sold during the twice-yearly online event are donated to local charities that support women and families.
