TREK's 2025 Rail+ is Powerful and Designed for Intense Rides
Colin Smith — August 2, 2025The 2025 Trek Rail+ Gen 5 is Trek’s latest long-travel full-power electric mountain bike featuring a purpose-built alloy and carbon frame engineered around a mixed-wheel setup, with 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear wheels (the small size uses 27.5-inch wheels front and rear). The model offers 160 millimetres of suspension travel at both ends via Trek’s ABP platform and a two-position leverage-rate flip chip at the lower shock mount to adjust progression. Power is delivered by the Bosch Performance Line CX motor paired with an 800 watt-hour removable integrated battery (RIB 2.0) housed in the downtube, providing riders with sustained support on demanding terrain.
Weighing approximately 24 kilograms when outfitted with Bontrager tyres, a Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain, and a RockShox Psylo Gold RC fork mated to a Deluxe Select+ RT rear shock, the Rail+ Gen 5 balances robust components with refined geometry. Riders can fine-tune handling through Trek’s Mino Link adjustable headset to alter head-tube and seat-tube angles by up to half a degree, while the updated battery-release mechanism improves serviceability. An optional range-extender battery further boosts capacity and range, and Australian pricing starts at AUD 8,999 (approximately USD 6,000), positioning the Gen 5 as a competitively priced choice in the e-MTB market.
