XCMG Machinery, a major manufacturer of construction equipment, calls attention to its ongoing humanitarian initiative in Ethiopia, known as the Water Cellar Project. The company's efforts respond to severe climate-induced water shortages in the Horn of Africa, which have significantly affected agricultural output and placed a particular burden on the population.

The program involves the construction of underground storage units designed to collect and preserve rainwater for use during dry periods in the region. In its most recent phase, the Water Cellar Project has provided these facilities to a specific community in the Amhara Region. Since the program's inception, a total of 201 such cellars have been built across several Ethiopian regions.

In addition to the Water Cellar Project, XCMG Machinery is also running a related Clean Water Project that has installed filtration systems and hygiene stations in schools.
