DTU Opened the Yogi Goswami Clean Energy Laboratory

The Yogi Goswami Clean Energy Laboratory at Delhi Technological University was inaugurated on September 8, 2025, by Ashish Sood, Minister of Education for the Government of NCT of Delhi, under the Nodal Centre of Excellence in Energy Transition (NCEET). Funded through a contribution from Prof. Yogi Goswami (Class of 1969), the facility is designed to serve as a hub for collaboration among academia, industry, and society in developing scalable solutions for energy transition. The laboratory supports DTU’s strategic commitment to sustainability and contributes to India’s national goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.

During the inauguration, Ashish Sood noted that India reached its target of 50 percent clean energy share by 2025 five years ahead of schedule and highlighted the laboratory’s anticipated role in driving further clean-energy research. DTU Vice Chancellor Prof. Prateek Sharma emphasized the responsibility of engineers and scientists to pursue sustainable development through innovative methods. Prof. Yogi Goswami commended DTU’s academic foundation and expressed optimism that the new laboratory would advance the university’s standing and foster alternative energy research. The minister also toured the DTU Innovation and Incubation Foundation, affirming government support and funding for entrepreneurial initiatives emanating from the university ecosystem.
