DTE Energy is Using Solar Energy to Drive Economic Development

DTE Energy, Michigan’s largest producer of and investor in renewable energy, has completed its third solar park of 2025, the Polaris Solar Park. Located in Washington and North Star Townships in Gratiot County, the 100‑megawatt facility is designed to generate sufficient clean energy to power more than 23,000 homes. The project’s completion, marked by a ribbon‑cutting ceremony, underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to diversifying its energy generation portfolio, supporting local economic development, and contributing to the state’s renewable energy goals.

The Polaris Solar Park is part of DTE Energy’s broader CleanVision MIGreenPower initiative, which focuses on integrating renewable energy solutions within Michigan. In addition to delivering significant clean energy capacity, the project is anticipated to provide substantial tax revenue to local communities, which can be used for public services such as infrastructure maintenance and emergency services. This development reflects a strategic approach to advancing renewable energy infrastructure while simultaneously fostering regional economic growth and enhancing community well‑being.
