London-based climate startup CUR8 has launched ‘CUR8 Plan,’ an AI-powered platform designed to make corporate carbon removal planning accessible and data-driven. Unveiled during London Climate Action Week, the tool acts like a ‘virtual carbon removal scientist’ for sustainability teams. It aggregates data from 1,000+ carbon removal projects in over 90 countries -- including details on capacity, cost, and verification -- and uses algorithms to help businesses simulate different portfolios of carbon removal investments.

With CUR8 Plan, a company can input its net-zero or offset goals and receive science-based recommendations on how to mix solutions like reforestation credits, direct air capture, biochar, etc., tailored to its budget and risk preferences. The platform aligns suggestions with frameworks such as the Oxford Offsetting Principles, ensuring quality and permanence are considered. CUR8’s CEO Marta Krupinska said the goal is to 'increase confidence and trust in carbon removal' by demystifying the market and saving companies the time and expense of hiring consultants for this expertise. Notably, CUR8 already facilitated carbon removal purchases for clients like British Airways; this new self-serve tool expands its offering to a broader range of organizations.
