Researchers at Yanka Kupala Grodno State University have developed an innovative technique to produce eco-friendly chitosan, an ingredient commonly used in medical, cosmetic, and food products. With this new method, researchers have been able to recycle citric acid production waste while reducing the chemical's "aggressiveness." This has led to a safer, more streamlined production process, enabling brands to use it as a raw material in medicines, cosmetics, and the food industry.

"Researchers at the Yanka Kupala Grodno State University’s Biology and Ecology Faculty, [as well as] Oksana Pavlova who heads the Department of Technology, Physiology and Food Hygiene, and associate professor Maria Trusova, have received a patent for the invention of a method for producing chitosan," the source reported.
