Green European Biosurfactants
Caldic and AmphiStar Team Up to Promote Upcycled Biosurfactants
Kanesa D — January 9, 2026Caldic has entered into a partnership with Belgian biotech company AmphiStar. Under a distribution agreement, Caldic will bring AmphiStar’s fully upcycled biosurfactants to the European market.
The partnership is intended to accelerate the adoption of biosurfactants in personal care formulations by positioning them as a viable, effective alternative to conventional surfactants. Made entirely from upcycled bio-based waste and industrial side streams, AmphiStar’s biosurfactants support circular economy principles and align with EU initiatives such as the European Green Deal and the Biotech Act.
AmphiStar’s biosurfactants are produced through a gentle microbial fermentation process that uses locally sourced, repurposed agri-food byproducts. They are free from fossil-based and palm-derived inputs, readily biodegradable, and designed to be safe for both human skin and the environment. Unlike many traditional biosurfactants, these ingredients do not depend on dedicated agricultural land, further minimizing their overall environmental impact.
