BASF Partnered with IFF to Accelerate Enzyme and Polymer Tech

BASF and IFF have entered a strategic collaboration to accelerate development of enzyme systems and bio-based polymers aimed at the personal care, home care, and fabric-care markets. The partnership combines BASF’s chemical R&D capabilities with IFF’s biotechnology and protein-engineering expertise to pursue high-performance solutions that reduce environmental impact while maintaining product performance. It is important to note that this partnership will not only focus on reducing environmental impact, but also improving overall efficacy of products created.

Planned joint activities focus on creating next-generation technologies to enhance cleaning efficacy, improve personal care formulations, and scale bio-based polymer solutions for broader market adoption. Both companies will retain independent operations while leveraging complementary capabilities to shorten development timelines and enable large-scale commercialization of sustainable chemistries for global customers.
