Kalin Ned — January 13, 2026The landscape architecture firm Hsc Designs has completed the Chakrajeevan Udyan project, a public park in Ahmedabad, India, conceived around a 'Circle of Life' concept that prioritizes inclusive safety, intuitive navigation, and substantial material reuse.
The Chakrajeevan Udyan project is organized around a central, looping pathway that ensures clear sightlines, connects distinct activity zones for different age groups, and eliminates concealed areas to deter antisocial behavior. The Circle of Life concept also includes seating with armrests for seniors and non-slip, wheelchair-accessible path widths to ensure accessibility. The park's construction incorporated over 30,000 square feet of repurposed local materials — such as concrete, tiles, and metal rods — into functional structures. Hsc Designs notes that its strategy avoided "approximately 36 tons of CO2.
