Closed-Loop Polystyrene Projects
Coexpan and Eslava Plásticos Team Up to Promote Eco Packaging
Kanesa D — October 8, 2025Coexpan and Eslava Plásticos have joined forces to recycle used polystyrene into safe, food-grade packaging, such as yoghurt cups, helping close the loop on single-use plastics.
By transforming post-consumer waste into materials suitable for direct food contact, the companies aim to bring the packaging industry closer to a truly circular economy. The initiative relies on mechanical recycling, which the partners say produces a lower carbon footprint compared to other recycling methods, combining sustainability with practical, everyday solutions for food packaging.
“After many years of work and development together with the integrated management systems of Spain and France, we are proud to contribute to a solution that shows mechanical recycling can be safe, efficient, and truly circular, and that positions Spain as a leader in sustainable innovation,” continues Eslava CEO David Eslava.
