Energy provider Plenitude collaborated with creative agency LePub to create Dark Mode Ads, an initiative developed to reduce the energy consumption of digital advertising by using color and image brightness more efficiently. The first public activation introduced a large-format dark mode billboard in Madrid's Plaza Callao.

As part of Dark Mode Ads, Certimac conducted an independent measurement and verification activity on the energy performance of LED screens, noting, "The results demonstrate that optimising visual content can reduce energy consumption by up to 74%—without any hardware modifications, acting solely on the design of the creatives."

To amplify the impact of this project, Plenitude and LePub released a platform that automatically converts brand assets to dark mode, all while preserving legibility, so that other advertisers can use it.
