Catalyst Power has partnered with Granular Energy to introduce a new electricity procurement option for commercial and industrial entities in the United States. The collaborative output of these companies is distinguished by the use of hourly data matching, a method that verifies a customer's power consumption is offset by carbon-free electricity generation within the same sixty-minute period, rather than relying on broader monthly or annual averages.

The electricity procurement option utilizes a software platform to automate the complex process of aligning renewable energy certificates with actual grid generation and customer usage on an hour-by-hour basis. This approach is designed to comply with evolving environmental accounting standards, specifically the updated Scope 2 emissions guidance, which increasingly favors this more precise temporal matching to validate claims of using clean energy.

For the average individual, this means that when a company states it is powered by renewable energy, the claim can now be backed by data proving that clean energy was supplied to the grid at the exact times the company was consuming power.
