Essity is preparing to launch a £30 million+ state-of-the-art recycled paper facility at its largest UK manufacturing site in Prudhoe, Northumberland, on 9 April 2026. This facility represents a major investment in British manufacturing and underscores Essity’s long-term commitment to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence.

As the UK’s largest user of recycled fiber for consumer tissue, Essity has planned to expand its recycled fiber processing capacity to over 100,000 tonnes per year, further consolidating its leadership in environmentally responsible tissue production. By transforming lower-grade paper and board into high-quality tissue raw material, the new facility helps ensure a more circular production process while reducing reliance on virgin fibers.

The plant is designed with advanced technology to efficiently segregate plastic and metal contaminants, minimize waste sent to landfill, and optimize energy usage.
