Flamingo Lodge is a New Eco-Hotel Located at Everglades National Park
Kanesa D — June 19, 2025Introducing Flamingo Lodge, an eco-conscious hotel constructed from repurposed shipping containers at the southern edge of Florida’s iconic Everglades National Park.
The 24-room lodge reimagines traditional lodging through modular design, with containers expertly welded and configured into four elevated clusters of six rooms each. A standalone restaurant and bar complete the guest experience. Engineered for resilience, the structure rests atop 13-foot concrete pilings and is built to withstand hurricane-strength winds—an essential feature in this exposed coastal environment.
“Sustainability was hugely important and integrated into the design and the building of the lodge. It was finding that balance, just like we do with many things in the National Park Service, between what we have today and what we want to take into the future,” said Allyson Gantt, NPS ranger and chief of communications for the Everglades park.
