Greenwashing Compliance Tools

Deloitte’s Green Claims Navigator gives companies a governance framework for managing environmental claims as regulators tighten greenwashing enforcement. The tool is designed to automatically detect a company’s sustainability statements, check them against current laws and regulations and highlight when further proof is needed.

The firm says the tool should give companies continuous oversight of their sustainability communications, along with consistent monitoring across business units and teams. The European Union began enforcing its Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive in September, while Switzerland’s Federal Office for the Environment backed stricter standards for climate-related claims in March. Under the new requirements, companies must back their claims with objective, verifiable evidence, Deloitte says.

The Navigator signals how compliance tools are becoming part of how companies substantiate climate claims in Europe.
