Swiss-Made r-PS K3 Cups

Greiner Packaging Introduced Recycled PS K3 Cups in Switzerland

Greiner Packaging has revealed plans to introduce K3 cups made from mechanically recycled polystyrene (r-PS) to the Swiss market starting in the first quarter of 2026. This transition is enabled by a new production line at the company’s Diepoldsau facility, which allows Greiner to significantly reduce its reliance on virgin polystyrene.

The company intends to phase in the r-PS material across its complete K3 multipack portfolio over time. Greiner Packaging reports that replacing the current PS-based cups with the new recycled option will reduce CO₂ emissions by around 10%.

“With the introduction of K3 cups containing r-PS, we are setting a milestone for sustainable packaging in Switzerland. We are proud to close the PS loop together with strong partners while still meeting the high standards of product safety and quality," said Tobias Strasser, managing director at Greiner Packaging Switzerland.
