IKEA Spotlights its Partnership with Too Good To Go at MDW 2026
Debra John — April 21, 2026At Milan Design Week 2026, IKEA spotlights its ongoing partnership with Too Good To Go, emphasizing digital solutions that address food waste and promote more sustainable consumption patterns. The collaboration, established in 2018 and now active across 15 countries, reflects a shared commitment to reducing surplus food by connecting consumers with unsold items that would otherwise be discarded. Through the Too Good To Go platform, visitors are given the opportunity to purchase “Surprise Bags” containing surplus food from IKEA locations, supporting waste reduction while encouraging resource efficiency.
The initiative is presented as part of a broader exhibition focused on sustainable everyday living, highlighting practical, scalable approaches to minimizing environmental impact. Complementing this effort, the exhibition also features Etrash, an Italian startup developing artificial intelligence-enabled waste bins designed to improve sorting accuracy and recycling outcomes.
Together, these initiatives demonstrate how digital tools and partnerships can contribute to reducing food waste, optimizing resource use, and advancing circular economy principles in daily life.
