Sustainable Mobility Experience Centers

Kia's E-Ground Center Advances the Transportation Industry

Kia’s E‑Ground is a 1,400 m² Sustainable Mobility Experience Center in Quito, Ecuador, designed to promote electric vehicle adoption through interactive education zones, low‑emission construction, and regional engagement; the facility received the Good Design Award for its design and sustainability focus.

Kia E‑Ground is organised into three immersive zones labelled Planet, Energy, and Mobility that combine experiential exhibits, EV education, and demonstrations of energy technologies to inform consumers and stakeholders about electrification pathways and lifecycle considerations. The centre uses sustainable materials and design motifs derived from natural patterns to integrate aesthetic and ecological objectives, and it functions as a regional hub for public outreach, test drives, and collaboration with local partners to accelerate EV uptake in Central and South America.

From an operational perspective, E‑Ground is positioned to support dealer networks and municipal stakeholders by providing a venue for training, product familiarisation, and pilot projects that test charging and energy management concepts under local conditions. For planners and policymakers, relevant evaluation points include visitor programming metrics, measured impacts on local EV enquiries and sales, the centre’s energy performance and embodied carbon data, and the scalability of the model to other Latin American markets.
