Vanguard Renewables, a major producer of renewable natural gas, and the global shipping and logistics corporation known as CMA CGM Group have joined forces to advance maritime decarbonization. The partnership involves a minority financial investment from the shipping company's energy fund into Vanguard Renewables, which in turn guarantees the shipper long-term access to substantial quantities of biomethane. This fuel is generated through anaerobic digestion, a process that breaks down organic material from agricultural and food waste streams, preventing it from decomposing in landfills.

The collaboration between Vanguard Renewables and CMA CGM Group is positioned as a direct response to emerging international regulations mandating reductions in greenhouse gas emissions within the maritime industry. In this vein, Vanguard Renewables highlights its unique capability to source feedstock from both dairy farms and food manufacturing, offering a circular economy model that addresses waste management and energy production simultaneously.
