Next-Gen Floating Power Projects

Karpowership and Seatrium Expand Floating Energy Infrastructure

Karpowership and Seatrium — two maritime energy firms — have concentrated their collaborative forces on the expansion of floating energy infrastructure. The partnership was marked by the introduction of a new liquefied natural gas terminal ship, referred to as LNGTS, and the signing of a letter of intent to develop an advanced generation of floating power plants and associated LNG units.

The specialized LNGTS vessels are designed to function as mobile, integrated energy systems that can be deployed to provide electricity generation and gas import capabilities to regions lacking permanent land-based infrastructure. A notable aspect of this floating energy infrastructure is its planned modularity, which is intended to allow for the future incorporation of emerging technologies such as carbon capture systems.
