Solar Trailers Replace Diesel Power in Film Production Environments

Mobile solar energy systems are being introduced into film and television production through Universal Production Services’ partnership with Hollywood Trucks Technologies, deploying off-grid Ecoluxe® solar trailers that generate, store and distribute power on-site. These units are designed to replace traditional diesel generators by supplying electricity for basecamp operations, including lighting, equipment, WiFi and EV charging. With integrated battery storage and vehicle-to-grid capabilities, the trailers can operate independently while also supporting existing infrastructure when needed.

This approach allows production teams to reduce reliance on fuel-based power sources while improving operational flexibility on set. Lower fuel usage and quieter operation can help reduce overall costs and improve working conditions. As demand grows for cleaner production practices, similar mobile energy systems could be adopted across events, construction and remote worksites.
