Nescafé Debuts Coffee Packaging THat Improves Recyclability
Kanesa D — April 9, 2026The Nescafé brand has introduced streamlined packaging for its professional product range, replacing its previous multi-material design with a simplified, white, single-material plastic format. By eliminating aluminum, the updated packaging is now fully recyclable while maintaining product safety and quality.
The less complex structure is designed to improve recyclability, with guidance in Portugal directing disposal via the yellow recycling bin. This initiative supports Nestlé’s broader goal of making more than 95% of its packaging reusable or recyclable by 2025, with an ultimate target of full circularity. It also aligns with the company’s role as a founding member of the Portuguese Plastics Pact.
"Alongside the progress made regarding environmental concerns that Nestlé has undertaken, the rebranding is a fundamental point for us, because it has brought Nestlé and Nescafé one step closer to achieving the goal of having all packaging that is recyclable or reusable, " said Ana Leitão, Brand Manager for Nescafé beans.
