Showcased Decarbonization Efforts
Omya Announced Various Sustainable Developments at K 2025
Colin Smith — September 2, 2025Omya Performance Polymers Distribution (OPPD) was launched earlier in 2025 as a strategic joint venture combining Omya’s established global polymer distribution network with Distrupol’s market expertise. This integration enables OPPD to offer a comprehensive portfolio of high-performance polymer materials, leveraging the combined logistics, technical support, and customer service capabilities of both organizations. The formal introduction of OPPD at the K 2025 trade fair in Düsseldorf underscored its mission to address evolving industry demands by streamlining access to advanced polymers across key markets worldwide.
Beyond expanding Omya’s market reach, OPPD focuses on sustainable innovations that support decarbonization and lightweighting objectives. The distribution arm includes pre-consumer recycled polymer grades—such as Omyaloop FC for general applications and Omya Smartfill 55-AV for engineering materials and biopolymers—verified by Bureau Veritas and produced with green electricity, achieving up to two-thirds reduction in carbon emissions. Additionally, OPPD distributes specialty fillers like the Omyasphere 900 hollow glass microspheres, which reduce product weight while maintaining mechanical and thermal performance, as well as a range of bio-based additives and CO₂-reducing solutions sourced through partnerships with leading manufacturers.
