Outdoor Retail Cooperative REI Emphasizes Sustainability

The outdoor retail cooperative REI has detailed a series of recent operational and partnership initiatives focused on environmental stewardship. The entity has specifically focused on expanding renewable energy infrastructure and integrating sustainably sourced materials into its product lines.
As part of its commitment to the environment, REI is participating in the new 2.5MW community solar project in Woodbury, MN, which is being developed by US Solar. The company is also entering the aggregated Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with Carhartt and other brands to fund new solar power generation. In addition to regenerative energy, REI entered a multi-year procurement agreement with Ambercycle fr its innovative cycora® regenerated polyester fabric.
The outdoor retail cooperative's strategy further extends to supporting educational programs related to ecological science and joining a coalition dedicated to natural carbon sequestration methods.
