Allianz Field and Excel Energy are Running Eco Energy on 9/20 Match

The stadium’s energy requirements for the event will be supplied through Xcel Energy’s Renewable Connect Flex Program, which allows customers to source all electricity from renewable resources with customizable options to meet varying budgetary and sustainability objectives. Currently, Xcel Energy’s regional generation mix comprises over 40 percent renewable sources and approximately 65 percent carbon-free output when including nuclear power, underscoring the utility’s capacity to support large-scale, low-carbon events.
Allianz Field General Manager Justin Borrell highlighted the club’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and advancing sustainable operations through collaboration with a recognized clean energy leader. Jeff Lyng, Xcel Energy’s Vice President of External Affairs and Policy and Chief Sustainability Officer, noted that powering an entire match with 100 percent renewable energy reflects both companies’ dedication to a cleaner energy future and their drive to help customers achieve environmental goals.
